Studying and working with the body is Sharon Gary’s life work. A practicing integrative and holistic NY Physical Therapist for over 20 years, Sharon received Honors for her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Columbia University. She studied yoga before becoming a physical therapist. And before that, at the beginning of her journey, Sharon was a dancer, studying and performing in NYC and Austin. She graduated with High Honors for a BA in Modern Dance and Liberal Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. It was after she became a physical therapist that she went on to study and receive a 200-hour certificate in Interdisciplinary Yoga from the Nosara and Omega Institutes.
Sharon Gary’s combination of Yoga and Physical Therapy

Many patients praise Sharon’s healing touch. In addition to healing myofascial release, she uses gentle, profoundly effective joint mobilizations. Sometimes trigger point massage is the right intervention. Or you might benefit from strain-counterstrain. Or you might need neurodynamic treatments to help decrease nerve pain in your neck, arm, back, or from sciatica. Because her hands are skilled and sensitive, she is able to create and target just the right manual interventions at just the right time. Further, you will be instructed in gentle and healing exercises that actually feel good. Designed to lessen your pain as you do them, these exercises open and massage your joints and muscles from the inside out. They become powerful tools for you to use on your own.
A former dancer, Sharon Gary has a unique perspective on teaching posture and exercise. She will take the time necessary to help you discover a dynamic and healing approach to posture, movement and rehabilitation.
Wouldn’t it be nice to work with an integrative and holistic Physical Therapist who takes the time to listen and support you on your healing journey. Sharon Gary’s expertise arises not only from years of studying dance, yoga, meditation and Physical Therapy, she also incorporates principles and exercises from Feldenkrais, PNF, Alexander technique, Release technique and Ideokinesis (use of imagery to guide movement).
You can learn to work with, and relieve, pain and injury caused by chronic stress, whether physical, mental or emotional in origin. Learn to understand the impact of stress and poor postural habits on the body. Then learn what to do to heal and feel better. Sharon Gary is the NY Physical Therapist who can take you there.
